The sign appears to have been reused as you can still read Diner underneath the over-painted Motel. I suspect the sign has long gone now. The level of decay also gives clues as to where, geographically, it is, as the state of New York experiences extremes of weather conditions, from harsh winters to blistering summers, which take their toll on signs.
